Arab Racial Supremacism

“We must believe Arabs are the master race!” he said. The dark underbelly of modern Salafism. Check out how a major American Salafi Imam — who happens to be black — propagated some extremely disturbing racism.

When you are at Abdur Rahman’s blog, check out his five part series on the Black-American Muslims. Part 5, which discusses immigrant racism, is especially important. I read this series a while back, and what I liked about it was that it also didn’t discount the (unfortunate) self-hate among some black Muslims. He calls it “Islamic passing.” When a black person sheds their identity and history for a new one altogether. This has been somewhat common in black america for a long time. Check out Phillip Roth’s novel The Human Stain for a black man engaging in Jewish passing. As a friend, who is undergoing back surgery now, once pointed out in a poignant comment when I discussed meeting a black man who essentially lived like an Arab bedouin in Philly: the individuals who engage in such passing are in search of validation.

Muslimah Media Watch’s Fatemeh previously wrote an article criticizing the forced Arabization of Muslims.

Sophister also previously discussed how traditional desi Muslims become fake Arabs. (Its not just a Salafi phenomenon).

Let’s see, so now we have articles from a Black-Man, an Iranian-Girl, and a Pakistani-Man, complaining about Arab supremacism. I also recall once reading an article by Umar Lee - a white Muslim - about it. By jove, I think we’re onto something.
